This was the commencement address delivered by Steve Jobs, founder of Apple Computer and Pixar animation studios, on June 12, 2015.

Here are 15 lessons from this commencement.

  1. You can't connect the dots looking forward, you can only connect them looking backwards.

  2. Sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick; don't lose faith.

  3. The heaviness of being successful is replaced by the lightness of being a beginner again, less sure about everything.

  4. Find what you love, and that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers.

  5. Your work will fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.

  6. If you live each day as if it were your last, someday you'll be right.

  7. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You’re already naked, there is no reason not to follow your heart.

  8. No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don’t want to die to get there.

  9. Death is the destination we all share, no one has ever escaped it.

  10. Death is very likely the single best invention of life. It’s life’s change agent; it clears out the old to make way for the new.

  11. Your time is limited, so don’t waste it, living someone else’s life.

  12. Don't be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking.

  13. Don't let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your inner voice.

  14. Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.

  15. Stay hungry. Stay foolish.
